How to connect to your Rust server, how to set a password for the server?

In order to find your server and connect to it, you must follow a series of actions dictated by the game. Including, you need to set a password for the server (if necessary).

How to connect to the server

There are several different methods for this:

Method 1 – Steam Favorites List:

1. Start Steam.
2. Select “View → Servers” from the menu at the top.
3. Switch to the “Favorites” tab.
4. Click the “Add a Server” button.
5. Open an email with the Rust game server details we sent you before.
6. Find your server IP and port, and copy them to your clipboard.
   Also you can find IP+port of the server in the game panel in the place marked on the screenshot below.
   
7. Paste your server IP and port to the “Add Server” window in Steam.
   • Don’t forget that when connecting to the Rust server through Steam, you need to change your game Port from 28015 to 28017.
8. Click the “Add This Address to Favorites” button.
9. On the right bottom corner click the “Refresh” button.
10. Select your server and click on “Connect”
    • If you click on “Connect” without refreshing before, an error may appear. This is a Steam bug.

Method 2 – Game Console:

1. Run Steam and open your Steam Library.
2. Open an email with the Rust game server details we sent you before.
3. Find your server IP and Port, and copy them to your clipboard.
   Also you can find IP+port of the server in the game panel in the place marked on the screenshot below.
   
4. Now launch Rust from Steam.
5. In the game launcher, press the F1 key to open the Game Console.
6. Type ‘connect’, and press Ctrl+V to paste your IP and Port.
7. Press Enter.

How to set a password on the server

1. Login on your game panel.
2. In the server overview, click on the name of your server.
3. In the top menu, click on “Startup”.
4. Set the desired password in the “Server Password” field.
